Spinning Water & the Baqua

at Dakota Place Park

4304 SW Dakota, Seattle WA

Return to Site Work

A spinning vortex was the design concept for the artwork at the former West Seattle electric power substation as it was remade into Dakota Place Park.

Moving matter, such as electricity through a wire, water, or magnetic fields, can move in circles. When the movement of the energy begins to spiral, a vortex is formed.

Three vortex art works are installed at the park.  2 Spinning Water sculptures grace entrances to the park. The glass mosaic Baqua is set into the pedestrian plaza.
